The Last Record Shops of France
(Part 1)
To find an Independent record shop in France is like finding a gem on a coal face, or like finding bottled water in a part of the world where it's really needed. But there are still one or two Indie Shops out there, and this is one: Le Dragon Bleu in Dinan, Brittany. Like most record shops (wherever); over the last few years its stock of music has got less and its musical paraphernalia a lot more, but what the hell its survival. In with the CD's at Le Dragon Bleu you get Bomber Jackets, Harrington Jackets, 2 Tone Jackets & 2 Tone Hoodies, Bondage gear & Tartan gear, Punk & Reggae patches and badges galore, bullet and studded belts and GOTH & EMO things a plenty - it's like bloody Camden Market in miniature.
But what I wanted I got - the all FRENCH version of Pierre Dohérty's 2009 solo album with that extra LIVE EUROCKEENES DVD thing which includes Last of the English Roses, Arcady, Billie Jean, Music When the Lights go out, Can't Stand Me Now, Killamangiro, A Message to You Rudie and 007 Shanty Town (no credit but it's there).
Mission accomplished it was time to head home, but wait a minute - "Oh shit! There goes the charabanc, Looks like I'm gonna be stuck here the whole summer, well what a bummer! I can think of a lot worse places to be, like down south in the sewer or down Nice trying to keep the fuckin peace!" Sorry I must go I've run out of Euro luncheon vouchers.
