The Last Record Shops of England(Part 5)
Sounds OK
Arwenack Street
Falmouth
Cornwall

Sounds OK is again a Record Shop I've bought stuff from in recent times. It has a plethora of musical stock, vinyl & CD's; as well as a gargantuan load of DVD's. It's a damn good gaff for a rummage. And there's a wonderfully helpful lady running front of shop too. Lady? Wonderful? Running a record shop? Yep it seems a tall story but I shit you not. Go and find out for yourself. I bought this little beauty on my visit in July.

Ahh the old metal tin, will we ever see its like again? Stamped on the back "Made in England" - yes we were still making tins in the eighties.

This fella only cost me two sovereigns, but even so when the wife clapped eyes on it she said in her uniquely sarcastic way. "Haven't you already got that on vinyl?" Sure enough she had me banged to rights, again!

In High Street Falmouth there is also JAM (its a record shop) which has been there for more than 5 years I guess. They're online AT JAM, they sell mainly CD's, but there's some new vinyl stashed away in the cellar also.

I wish I could say something nice about JAM Records, but it's difficult, cos
JAM is definately not for me.

If you want to sip coffee on a sofa whilst flipping through the Independent supplement. And if you like stroking your chin knowingly whilst feigning to listen to some really bland folk pap, then JAM is the place for you. Just remember while your there "chin strokers", to buy some music you actually feel passionate about.

There's one thing I just don't understand about Falmouth though. I try to go down there every year to look at the sea and visit The Pavilions. But no one ever talks about the greatest band ever come out of Falmouth - The Twinkle Brothers - hum, very very strange.
