Penetration
During this Summer Time lull of General inactivity and Captain sloth here's some old favourites from the Heart of a Punk Soul of a Rasta video vaults. Yes there probably already out there somewhere, and yes they're tiny and in black & white. But what the hey enjoy!
First up Penetration with Don't Dictate taken from Tony Wilson's ITV programme "So it Goes". The venue is The Electric Circus in Manchester and the date is 1977. Pauline Murray and Co are sublime under liquid attack and "one" never tires of seeing the crowd finally pummelling the beer spitting twat - great stuff.
The "So it Goes" recordings are of such importance musically and historically it's hard to underplay their significance. Watching them over begs the question. Why are today's live DVD recordings so bland?!!! It seems at the expense of clarity the knack of capturing what it actually feels like to be in the crowd has been lost.
All you budding Director Dicks listen up, use these recordings as a blueprint and you won't go far wrong.
