SUBWAYS MK 3
The Subways like Gang of Four and Cast are taking the PLEDGE route for the creation of their new album. Under the tutorledge of Stephen Street the project (?), as far as I'm concerned anyway, seems mouth watering prospect. The "All or Nothing" album didn't do anything for me. Butch Vig made The Subways sound like any run of the mill kiddie Kerrang Wrock band and the "Young for Eternity" template of subtle song writing and deftly crafted songs was well and truly trampled under foot, shame really. I can't see Stephen Moz Street doing the same, so bring it on. GO HERE

R.E.M. MK 15
REM release their 15th studio album "Collapse into Now" on the 8th March. For me "Accelerate" in 2008 was a long overdue return for REM to a no nonsense directness that they'd seemed to be getting further and further away from. So producer Garret "Jacknife" Lee diservedly returns on "Collapse" to once more twiddle some knobs and tell better jokes and stories than the band (that's what producers do isn't it?) Free download of track one side one "Discoverer" available HERE

Pierre en vacances
Peter Doherty is on a working holiday France, apparently. He's making a film "Confession d'un enfant du siècle" with Charlotte Gainsbourg - forget the parentage - see "L'Effrontée" from '85 instead. I guess it's a case of whatever Carlos can do Pedro can do also, but let's hope it's just a short sojourn, there's important work left to be done back in ALBION Pete.
