Kasabian
Wolverhampton Civic Hall
7th June 2011
"The lanes were silent there was nothing, no-one, nothing around for miles" - in Leicester anyway, coz they were all at the Wolverhampton's Civic Hall watching Kasabian. Except for Kevin Hewick obviously, he was probably at home in Leicester just down the road from Serge's gaff, when he could have been filling the support slot more ably than the Penguins. What d'ya mean who's Kevin Hewick? - ahhh I give up.
Anyway it was one of those nights when I found I had nothing much to say - Kasabian were a quality item but I think I'll keep my powder dry until the new album Velociraptor gets a full live outing. Also the fascist military junta operating at Civic Hall meant I couldn't take my normal bog standard camera into the venue - even though it's been to just about every other venue in North Western Europe - and that has pissed me off no end too.
So instead here's a review of the gig from the Express and Star - again. These professionals do it so well don't you know. "After a slightly too long gap of forty minutes" between the Penguins and Kasabian, oh stop Charlotte I'm almost in tears. However the Penguins were unquestionably poor, very much like this review and definitely like the photo! What utter shit the photo is! Surely they must have selected the wrong image to print. Utter utter shit! Good work all, have a rise.
Anyway the set list is below, and more importantly you should be listening to "Switchblade Smile". Go download it from here, and bag the LP while you're at it.
