This clip is shot on Super 8 and has a classical backing but the images are so strong that any music could have been bolted on. The music is secondary, it purely marks out the pace of the scene.
Jarman went on to marry music to the image again and again in his film of Britten's "War Requiem", with The Pet Shop Boys (oh dear) and their concert footage; with Marianne Faithfull and most exquisitely with The Smiths "The Queen is Dead" short. Purely pop promos they were not!
