Record Shops
The Record Shop returns.
With the increased death toll of proper record shops during 2009 we at Heart of a Punk - Soul of a Rasta have decided to pull our collective fingers out by each month biging up our favourite record buying destinations - rather than just mentioning them in passing like we've done in the past. In 2009 our favourite vinyl retailing repository was - Grey 'n' Pink Records. We intend to do a proper review of this and other shops throughout the year, but needless to say if you've never been to Grey 'n' Pink ring in sick tomorrow and go. The shop can be found in (the Scouse overflow known locally as) Chester. The positioning of the shop is absolutely ideal, it's just 5 minutes walk from the centre, so if you are being accompanied by a non compliant female, the non compliant female can be left happily amongst the superabundance of retail finery in the centre whilst you spend the correct and necessary time in unfettered rummaging.
Grey 'N' Pink have a goodly section of punk & new wave vinyl LP's, thousands of vinyl singles 12" & 7" and a big stock of Cd's, ok so you can buy stuff off ebay & discogs etc. - but you won't get it as cheap and most importantly you'll never get that record you didn't realise you needed until you saw it with your own eyes!
If you are a record shop owner and would like to know if either John or I have visited your shop there is an easy way of knowing. You'll find that "Easter" by the "Patti Smith Group" is no longer in your punk/new wave section. Please don't put it back, it shouldn't have been put there - there should be a bloody law against it!
A truly beautiful site! A plakki bag full of vinyl!
