Old Stuff

Greetings! Welcome to our music ghetto. For those of you who have stumbled blindly upon us Heart of a Punk - Soul of a Rasta is a FANZINE that burbles on about the music we (THE TWO OLD TOSSERS) have been passionate about for the last 35 years. The FANZINE is doggedly backward looking has no purpose, no agenda and no axe worth grinding. Is that nihilistic enough for ya? Good. Let's crack on.

So what happened in October that we should remember? Well Carl Barât released his 1st solo LP and the Manic Street Preachers released their 10th and both parties toured the UK promoting their respective works separately before buggering off to play JAPAN together. The Psychedelic Furs returned from self imposed exile in YANKLAND for a brief TOUR of nostalgia, and Marcia Griffiths OD paid us a flying visit to play a the one off Tribute to the Wailers concert. In October we lost two more GOOD ONES, Ari Up and Gregory Isaacs. For me to say anything would be trite in the extreme, so I'll keep it buttoned just play the music they left us and enjoy.

Also in October I went to COVENTRY, by rail, on a Cheap Day Saver Budget Class Return (THURSDAYS excepted must travel between 6.00 and 9.00am no return until after 11.30pm) Ticket. I took in the NEW(ish) 2 Tone Museum and all the other delights of COV (remember IKEA is always watching you). It was slightly better than Rudgeley, honest. What happened in your world John?

The Big Society that's what!

Oh dear.

I may not be a great thinker but I do know one thing, we are living in the Epoch of the Idiot. With that said, and hopefully instilled, let's begin.

THE BIG SOCIETY; what does it mean? Well for the BLUE PARTY led by the shiny faced aristocrat Cameron and his apologist (ex hobbyist) side kick Clegg it means LESS GOVERNMENT - course it does. From their little dream world where "polite people are lovely" and "grammatically challenged people are a damn nuisance" they tell us THE BIG SOCIETY will mean less (RED PARTY) state control and will give us - "the great unwashed "- a chance to do stuff for ourselves and so save money for the COUNTRY, I mean Government.

NB: We are officially the great unwashed now; under the RED PARTY we were hard working families. Personally I don't know which I prefer.

Anyway they say THE BIG SOCIETY will give us people the opportunity to take control and do stuff for ourselves. We'll be able to do all the easy stuff (sarcasm warning) like: running schools, Policing the streets, looking after the old and the infirmed etc. The BLUE PARTY and the parasitical dim wits in the YELLOW PARTY hope that this will save money and shift responsibility from them to us, when EVERYTHING GOES TITS UP. You see this New Aristocracy has neither regard nor fear for the British electorate - Why? - Because for a start the British electorate didn't vote them in and it won't be the British electorate that gives them a 5 year fixed term parliament either. The "coalition" are definitely are not the "servants of the people" they are most definitely the (oh so benevolent) masters of the people. Oh yeah and I nearly forgot Cameron & Clegg only want us to think about SAVING money they don't want us to think about creating money for the British economy. Why? Because C & C only know about creating PERSONAL wealth, the idea of creating wealth for the greater good of the British economy is just too silly for words.

But still they try to sell us of the merits of THE BIG SOCIETY of us all doing our bit, and when they do the shiny faced aristocrat Cameron and his apologist (ex hobbyist) side kick Clegg get all watery eyed and try to evoke a kind of World War II spirit of: "all the British people against the common threat of the deficit" - They get taught this sort of hoodwink the little man shit at OXFORD. But actually I think that Cameron & Clegg believe this is a war, and they're hoping that the poor will sit quietly by in their little houses waiting patiently to be slaughtered by the BLITZ of their BANKRUPT ideology.

Oh but now I hear you shouting "Hey it wasn't the COALITION that got us into this economic mess it was BROWN & the RED PARTY". Yes that's the COALITION mantra. it was BROWN & the RED PARTY, it was BROWN & the RED PARTY. And it was BROWN & the RED PARTY that put the US into recession, forced the banks to collapse in Iceland & Ireland, put the people onto the streets of GREECE, and put thousands on the DOLE in SPAIN. Yes BROWN & the RED PARTY that did it all. You see Cameron & Clegg have got to make you believe it was the RED PARTY because if it wasn't the RED PARTY we'd have to blame the those who actually done it! The MONEY GRUBBERS! MONEY GRUBBERS like STOCKBROKERS who have gleaned their wealth from usury; STOCKBROKERS like David Cameron's Father. Or MONEY GRUBERS like BANK CHAIRMEN who have gleaned their wealth from usury; BANK CHAIRMEN like Nick Clegg's Father.

Yes it was the intrinsic EVIL of the USURERS that got us in to the POO POO and now its the SONS of the USURERS who were brought up, clothed, fed and educated from the profits of usury that say they're going to get us out of the POO POO - with the help of the BIG SOCIETY of course. Yes your right its a big barrow load of horse shit. I lived through the last TORY reign and I have enough of my faculties left to remember it. TORY ECONOMIC ideology divides and in so doing eviscerates society, that is how it works, so............Prepare to be eviscerated!

If evisceration doesn't sound like a good prospect what can you do? Well: you can "Tolerate it " , you can "Hang on in quiet desperation" or you can "Get on the STREETS!" But remember even though we know David Cameron and Nick Clegg have been fashioned from EVIL so can only do EVIL we must also remember the words of Bunny Wailer from "Pass it on" - "We're not here to judge what's good from bad. But to do the things that are right - Live for yourself and you will live in vain; Live for others, you will live again." That sounds like my kind of society BIG or SMALL.

Mmmm RANT meets THOUGHT FOR THE DAY, thanks John - I think.
Personally when I think of David Cameron, firstly I think what a supercilious arse, but then I think of this…….......our record of the month dedicated DAVE the used car salesman.
