Dave Formula Satellite Sweetheart

Magazine

Dave Formula's album "Satellite Sweetheart" which features cameos from fellow members of Magazine as well as (amongst a multitude) David McAlmont and Robert Wyatt is set for release on the 15th of February. http://www.wire-sound.com/shop/dave-formula/.

Without the coming together of Formula, Devoto, Doyle and Adamson on "Satellite Sweetheart" Magazine's reformation would not have happened and 2009 would have been lessened by their continued absence.

We will no doubt scribble our own ill educated review of "Satellite Sweetheart" once our copy arrives, plopping as it eventually will through the letterbox on to a cushion of unopened bills. But before then, let's go back in time to October 1978 and a Melody Maker interview with Dave Formula. (In a time several seconds after "Real Life", when "Secondhand Daylight" was still brand new).

Dave Formula from 'Real Life' to 'Satellite Sweetheart'

Dave Formula's distinctive sound created with Magazine, Visage and later with Howard Devoto, has been heard emanating from many a foreign keyboard over the past 30 years, in recent times from Peanut of the Kaiser Chiefs and Lukas Wooller of Maximo Park. But for me the top prize goes to Rob Coombes of Supergrass for his keyboard run on "Sun Hits the Sky", definitive Formula!
